A Nigerian man has been arrested in Italy after an 18-year-old girl was murdered and her body chopped into pieces. The Nigerian, identified as 29-year-old Innocent Oseghale was arrested after the body of Pamela Mastropietro was found dismembered and dumped on a street with parts of her body stuffed in suitcases.
The Police were able to identify the Nigerian who was denied asylum last year but had remained in Macerata to appeal against the decision, in connection with the murder after examining CCTV footage from the area. Eyewitnesses also confirmed that the 29-year-old who is also a drug dealer was the last person to see the young woman alive. Before the body was discovered Oseghale was seen earlier with the suitcases in which the body was found. He refused to talk to the police after his arrest
Forensic investigators from Rome were dispatched to his home address where he was living on an expired visa, clothes belonging to the victim, some of which were soaked with blood where found in his apartment.
According to reports from the Italian police authority, Nigerian migrants are now collaborating with the Sicilian Mafia in the running of prostitution and the heroin trade on Italian streets. The murder is just the latest in a series of serious crimes including murders committed by asylum seekers and illegal migrants in the country.
