Police have released a new video of how criminals are now targeting innocent victim cars with an advanced technology that can aid the stealing of a car without using any key and also tips on how to secure your car from car thieves. The video released by West Midlands Police shows a cctv footage of two men pulled up outside the victim’s house, holding a relay box, which is a device used to receive signals through walls, doors and windows.
The process involves the use of one box to receive a signal from a car key inside the property and then transferred the signal to a second box next to the targeted car, the car’s system will now be tricked into thinking the key was present and the thieves will now be able to unlock the vehicle. A crime that took less than a minute.
The video below shows the cctv footage of a Mercedes stolen in Elmdon area of Solihull, Birmingham at 9pm on September 25 around 9pm and yet to be recovered.
