Remember the story of a woman who gave birth in Phoenix, Arizona, USA while in coma for almost 14 years and no one could explain how she got pregnant in the first place? (Click here to read the Story) Well during the course of investigation a male nurse, Nathan Sutherland, 36, has been arrested on suspicion of rape after his DNA “matched the baby”.
The 29-year-old victim has been a patient at the facility for the last 26 years, after being left disabled following a near drowning accident at the age of three. She’s been in coma for 14 years and court documents state that she is “not alert” and requires “maximum level of care” hence she has been at the facility for 14 years of her life.
Nathan, who used to be a gospel rapper was the nurse responsible for taking care of the unconscious patient who gave birth to a baby boy at the Hacienda HealthCare but staffs were unaware the patient was pregnant until she went into labour. He was arrested on, Wednesday, January 23, charged with raping the vulnerable woman after she gave birth on December 29th 2018. His lawyer David Gregan described Mr Sutherland as a family man with young children who has lived in Arizona since 1993 and he insists that there’s no direct evidence that Mr Sutherland has committed the act even though the DNA suggest otherwise but he will have a right to his own DNA expert.
The baby is doing fine and now being cared for by the woman’s family.
